Behavioural Problems of Children with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in Relation to Parenting Stress and Parents' Willingness to Accept Treatment - A Multidisciplinary approach
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a common neurodevelopmental disorder marked by persistent inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity that disrupt development and daily functioning. Children with ADHD often show behavioural issues such as aggression, oppositional behaviour, emotional instability, poor social skills, and academic struggles. These challenges place heavy demands on parents, leading to significant parenting stress. Elevated stress can shape parents’ willingness to seek and maintain treatment, sometimes motivating care but often acting as a barrier. This review examines the link between parenting stress, child behavioural problems, and parental acceptance of treatment, while highlighting implications for nursing practice, family-centred interventions, and future research.
