Additional file 1: of Living well after breast cancer randomized controlled trial protocol: evaluating a telephone-delivered weight loss intervention versus usual care in women following treatment for breast cancer

Year: 2016
Type: article
Study design: Study Protocol
Abstract: Study Protocol. (DOCX 159Â kb) Primary objective: To evaluate the telephone-delivered weight loss intervention compared to usual care, on its ability to promote and maintain weight loss, and to improve body composition, physical activity, dietary intake, clinical biomarkers of metabolic health (glucose, lipids, insulin, leptin, adiponectin, C Reactive Protein), genomic and DNA methylation-based biomarkers, blood pressure and patient-reported outcomes (quality of life, body image, fatigue, menopausal symptoms, fear of cancer recurrence). Rationale: Sixty percent of women with breast cancer are overweight and experience poorer outcomes (greater recurrence, reduced survival and increased risk of obesity-related chronic disease) compared to their healthy weight counterparts. Weight management support is recommended, but not integrated into clinical care.
