FAIRsharing - actionable knowledge for FAIR research data management

Year: 2026
Type: preprint
Abstract: Since 2011, FAIRsharing has helped consumers discover, select, and use standards, databases, and policies with confidence, while enabling producers to increase the visibility and adoption of their resources. It also provides humans and third-party tools with access to trustworthy content that supports good research data management and stewardship. Internationally recognised and widely adopted, FAIRsharing is an informative and educational service that promotes the use and value of these standards, databases, and policies, the foundation of the FAIR Principles. This service is powered by a unique and thriving network of expert contributors across all disciplines and sectors that validates content, captures disciplinary perspectives, and keeps FAIRsharing evolving alongside the community's research needs and practices. This article examines FAIRsharing's leading role in international projects addressing FAIR-related challenges and within a connected global ecosystem of infrastructures supporting researchers, funders, publishers, standards organisations, and research infrastructures. It traces FAIRsharing's evolution from a registry into a community-vetted, AI-ready knowledge layer supporting resource recommendation and other data management tasks.
