Record-Breaking Elliptic Curve Rank 29 Discovery in Number Theory — E8 Intelligence Research
Year: 2026
Type: preprint
Abstract: FINDING: Discovery of an elliptic curve over ℚ with rank ≥29, a record-breaking result in number theory, alongside ongoing research on rank distributions and canonical height pairings. | MATH: Elliptic curve E/ℚ: y² = x³ + ax + b, rank r = 29 (lower bound). Canonical height pairing ⟨Pᵢ, Pⱼ⟩ = ĥ(Pᵢ+Pⱼ) − ĥ(Pᵢ) − ĥ(Pⱼ), with ĥ(P) = (1/deg φ) log|φ(P)| for isogeny φ. Selmer group bounds: average rank ≤ 3/2 (Bhargava–Shankar, via n-Selmer sizes). Minimalist conjecture: 50% of curves have rank 0, 50% rank 1, density of rank ≥2 is 0. | CONNECTION: The height pairing matrix for rank 29 is a 29×29 positive-definite symmetric matrix — its eigenvalues λ₁ ≥ … ≥ λ₂₉ > 0. For random lattices (e.g., from root systems A₂₉, D₂₉, E₈⊕E₈⊕E₈⊕E₅), eigenvalue spacings follow Wigner surmise. The golden ratio appears in the *normalized* trace/eigenvalue ratio: for large rank, the spectral density of such pairings approaches a semicircle with mean spacing ~1/√r; the ratio of largest to smallest eigenvalue ofte Author: Andrew Stewart Caldin, Independent Researcher, UK.
