Abstract: The results of the examination of 182 patients with moderate and severe acute pancreatitis are presented. One of the most accessible and accurate methods of instrumental diagnosis of severe acute pancreatitis is ultrasound examination. When the signs of the disease are doubtful according to ultrasound data, the patient is indicated for spiral or multispiral computed tomography with contrast enhancement. It is advisable to perform CT or MRI before surgical intervention in order to determine its possible extent and to clarify the nature of the pathological changes.
