Spectral Morphogenesis: A Stateful Spectral Dynamical System over Harmonic-Index Space

Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: Gray–Scott reaction–diffusion system evolves over harmonic-index space rather than a conventional spatial grid or absolute-frequency-bin representation. The resulting morphogen field acts as a persistent internal spectral state that may continue to evolve after the initiating sound has ended. Version 1.1 introduces and documents an audited real-time C++ reference implementation. Live input conditions the field through transient deposition and harmonic-selective quadrature analysis at physical harmonic coordinates fh=hf0f_h=h f_0, while the audible output is produced by a distinct stretched-frequency additive spectral voice. Directed drift provides spectral transport, and a dyadic shell coordinate derived from the Harmonic Shell Model is used for structural analysis rather than as part of the local reaction operator. The revision adds functional RING-controlled release, complete FREEZE and SEED semantics, deterministic distributed oscillator phases, phase-continuous retuning, host-block-independent reaction–diffusion scheduling, allocation-free audio-thread processing, atomic visualization snapshots, and an absolute activity gate for harmonic-selective excitation. Because the excitation architecture changed materially from v1.0, the experimental measurements were repeated. The accompanying reproducibility suite demonstrates autonomous post-input spectral persistence; extinct, stationary, and active operational regimes under finite excitation; internal wet-output behavior; silence stability; parameter-transition behavior; and exact final-field agreement across tested host block sizes from 64 to 1024 samples. Reaction–diffusion synthesis, Gray–Scott dynamics, additive synthesis, and harmonic partitioning are not individually claimed as novel. The contribution is their specific coupling as a persistent, input-conditioned dynamical system over harmonic index, with directed spectral transport and bounded-coefficient additive read-out. No perceptual superiority, physical-energy interpretation, or absolute-priority claim is made. Version: 1.1Version DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.22665327Concept DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.22539109
