About the Nondirective Attitude
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: The nondirectivity of client-centred therapy has been viewed as impossible to practice and as rigid (Kahn, 1999), as a myth (Bowen, 1996), and as passe - an early phase of client-centered therapy that has been long discarded (Lietaer, 1998). These views are wrong and reflect significant misunderstandings of the concept. The following remarks are an attempt to address some of the misunderstandings.
