The Assessment: Scoring an Agent Estate Before Someone Else Does
Year: 2026
Type: preprint
Abstract: The maturity models exist. The assessment is the act of applying them honestly, and the first honest question about an agent estate is not what level are we, it is how many agents do we actually run. This paper walks the method end to end: discover the agents, inventory the three cryptographic surfaces each one carries, score the estate's governance on four weighted pillars, apply the one rule that never averages, and produce two artifacts from one pass, a scorecard a board can read and an evidence map a supervisor can. None of it waits for new regulation. The inventory duty already exists. The agent is the asset it cannot yet see.Paper #1 of the Running Regulated Agents Series (measure it, rehearse it, prove it). Published with the Agent Governance Maturity Model v1.0 reference specification.
