Specific basal ganglia, amygdala, and cortical neurons are associated with borderline personality disorder (BPD)
Year: 2026
Type: preprint
Abstract: Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is clinically significant and poorly understood biologically. We tested which human brain cell types preferentially use genes associated with BPD, implicating two major types of neurons: LAMP5 interneurons and D2 medium spiny neurons. These interrogable cell types provide new avenues for investigating the neurobiology of BPD.
