Popular Math Videos on Unsolved Problems: No New Results — E8 Intelligence Research

Year: 2026
Type: preprint
Abstract: FINDING: The search results are a list of popular mathematics videos on unsolved problems (Hadwiger-Nelson, Catalan's conjecture, Josephus problem, odd perfect numbers, Collatz conjecture) plus one unrelated arXiv paper on omnidirectional video quality assessment. No new mathematical result or discovery is presented; these are expository treatments of known open problems. | MATH: No new equations or constants are derived. Relevant known structures: Hadwiger-Nelson (chromatic number of the plane, χ(ℝ²) ∈ {5,6,7} after de Grey's 2018 construction of a 5-chromatic unit-distance graph); Catalan's conjecture (x^a − y^b = 1 has only solution 3² − 2³ = 1, proven by Mihăilescu 2002); Josephus problem (recurrence J(n) = 2l + 1 where n = 2^m + l); odd perfect numbers (if N is odd perfect, N > 10^1500, N ≡ 1 mod 12 or N ≡ 9 mod 36, has at least 9 distinct prime factors); Collatz (T(n) = n/2 if even, 3n+1 if odd; no cycle other than 4→2→1 known). | CONNECTION: Weak but present: The Hadwiger-Nelson Author: Andrew Stewart Caldin, Independent Researcher, UK.
