Abstract: Objectives: F-waves provide clinically useful information in patients with disorders of the peripheral and central nervous system. There are very few studies that use the normative data task force (NDTF) criteria for documenting reference data of the F-wave. A prospective cross-sectional study aimed at creating a reference value database of minimal F-wave latency from healthy volunteers. The objective of the study is to create a reference value database of minimal F-wave latency by testing a large number of subjects following the quality standards suggested by NDTF. Materials and Methods: Healthy volunteers ( n =784), of age 18–65 years, underwent nerve conduction study, and F-wave minimum latencies were recorded from distal muscles by the stimulation of median, ulnar, peroneal, and tibial nerves. Reference values were expressed as the 97 th quantile as well as mean ± standard deviation. Results: The 97 th quantile for minimum F-wave latency for median, ulnar, peroneal, and tibial nerves was 30.4 ms, 30.8 ms, 54.3 ms, and 55.9 ms, respectively. The age, height, weight, body mass index (BMI), and gender were significant predictors of F-wave minimal latency. The effects varied across nerves, with the tibial and peroneal nerves showing greater sensitivity to these variables. Conclusion: A large database of population-specific reference values for minimal F-wave latency was created using quantile regression. Minimal F-wave latency was significantly influenced by height, age, BMI, and gender. When evaluating patients clinically, these factors must be taken into account.
