Mass is Geometry: Thermal Relaxation of Wave-Arcs as the Origin of Weight

Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: This paper presents Virgin Wave Theory v1.0, a geometric framework proposing that mass and weight are emergent properties of wave-arc curvature rather than fundamental attributes of matter. We introduce three foundational postulates: 1. Mass is the arithmetic sum of all wave-arc rigidities within a volume. 2. Weight is the force generated by the conflict between an object's total curvature and Earth's curvature field. 3. Thermal energy acts as a reversible relaxation operator that temporarily reduces wave-arc rigidity. From these postulates we derive three testable predictions: 1. A temporary thermal weight deficit proportional to temperature change: ΔW/W₀ = -αₜΔT 2. Buoyancy as a differential curvature force between hot and cold regions. 3. A cryogenic mass increase due to increased structural rigidity at low temperatures. We resolve the historical non-observation of thermal weight effects by showing that air convection and buoyancy mask the geometric effect in open-air conditions. The effect becomes measurable only in high-vacuum, precision thermo-gravimetric environments. This theory unifies thermodynamics and mechanics under a single geometric law and provides clear falsifiable conditions. If confirmed, it would require a fundamental revision of the concepts of mass and inertia.
