E8 Coxeter Projection Reveals Icosahedral Sublattice Encoding Topological Qubits — E8 Intelligence Research

Year: 2026
Type: preprint
Abstract: The 240 E8 root vectors, when projected onto the Coxeter plane, decompose into orbits exhibiting golden-ratio icosahedral symmetry inherited from the binary icosahedral group of order 120. This sublattice structure naturally maps onto a topological quantum error-correcting code where the 120-fold symmetry constrains error propagation along root-vector adjacency paths. The geometric frustration inherent in this icosahedral sublattice—arising from the impossibility of simultaneously minimizing all nearest-neighbor interactions on an icosahedral graph—generates a degenerate ground-state manifold that is topologically protected, suggesting E8-symmetric spin Hamiltonians could realize fault-tolerant qubits whose coherence is enforced by the root system's exceptional Coxeter symmetry rather than by fine-tuned material parameters.
