Abstract: During comprehensive fungal diversity surveys in South Korea, ten macrofungal species previously unrecorded were identified. These species belong to four families within the phylum Basidiomycota: Cortinariaceae (Cortinarius acutus), Russulaceae (Russula burlinghamiae, R. callainomarginis, R. subatropurpurea, R. zhuzuijun), Boletaceae (Tylopilus pseudoballoui, Pulveroboletus subrufus, Porphyrellus orientifumosipes, Xerocomellus inflatus), and Sclerodermataceae (Scleroderma venenatum).Species identification was confirmed through a combination of macro-and microscopic morphological examinations and molecular phylogenetic analyses based on the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and large subunit (LSU) regions of the ribosomal RNA gene.Detailed morphological descriptions, photographs, and phylogenetic trees for these newly recorded species are provided. This report significantly contributes to the inventory of indigenous fungal resources and highlights the hidden mycological diversity within Korean forest ecosystems.
