Explicit Functional Renormalization-Group Flow Equation for the LSI Constant ϱk in Terms of the String Tension

Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: This work develops a functional renormalization-group formulation for a scaledependent LSI constant, denoted by ϱk, and establishes its relation to the infraredstring tension σk. Since the symbol ϱk is not universally standardized in thefunctional renormalization-group literature, it is defined here as a dimensionlessrunning confinement parameter associated with the coefficient of the area term inthe Wilson-loop effective action. The central result is the flow equation∂tϱk = (2 − ησ(k)) ϱk + Fσ(k)/Zσ,kk2wheret = ln k/Λ , ησ(k) = −∂t ln Zσ,kand Fσ(k) denotes the functional renormalization contribution generated by gluon, ghost, matter, and composite Wilson-loop fluctuations. The derivation is based on the Wetterich equation for the effective average actionand on the large-area behavior of Wilson loops,ln⟨W(C)⟩ ∼ −σA(C) − µP(C) + - -The proposed formalism connects functional renormalization, confinement, Wilsonloop area laws, dimensional transmutation, and the infrared dynamics of non-Abeliangauge theories.
