This study aims to examine the evidentiary value of electronic documentary credits in financing international trade in light of digital transformation. The study addresses this issue through analyzing the legal and regulatory frameworks governing this modern system and assessing the extent to which electronic documents and digital signatures are recognized as means of proof in international banking and commercial transactions. The study further seeks to analyze the legal nature and characteristics of electronic documentary credits, evaluate their compatibility with the traditional rules governing documentary credits, and clarify the role played by international rules and national legislation in regulating this system and fostering trust in electronic transactions. The study concludes with several key findings, most notably that electronic documentary credits represent a modern evolution of the traditional documentary credit system, contributing to the acceleration of international trade operations, the reduction of costs, and the enhancement of banking efficiency. It also emphasizes that legal recognition of electronic documents and digital signatures has become a necessity dictated by the nature of modern international trade. Furthermore, international rules and national legislations have played a significant role in establishing the principle of functional equivalence between electronic documents and paper-based instruments. However, the practical application of this system continues to face a number of legal and technical challenges, which require the development of legislative and technological frameworks in line with the ongoing digital transformation of international trade.
