Evaporation and Rainfall Data used in the article Water presence detection in water pans in semi-arid Kenya using Sentinel-2 imagery
Year: 2026
Type: dataset
Abstract: The CSV files include rainfall measurements collected at 30‑minute intervals at the Maktau weather station (3.4258°S, 38.1393°E; 1055.6 m a.s.l.), together with daily air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, solar radiation, and calculated evaporation. Daily air temperature (°C), relative humidity (%), wind speed (m s⁻¹), solar ra-diation (MJ m⁻² d⁻¹), and extraterrestrial radiation (MJ m⁻² d⁻¹) were used as inputs to the evaporation model. Open water evaporation was calculated using the equations described by Valiantzas (2006). Evaporation calulated using Standardized Penman equation (Eq. 1) was utilized in this article.
