-Experimental Evidence: Can Quantum Evaluation Structure Protect Against Decoherence Through Entanglement? IBM Heron Hardware and a Falsifiable Multi-Architecture Protocol (PSI-ISAPP / Protocol P7)

Year: 2026
Type: dataset
Abstract: PSI-ISAPP is a falsifiable phenomenological framework investigating whether the quantum mutual information (I_Q) of a prepared multipartite state contains predictive information about its subsequent effective decoherence rate in noisy superconducting quantum hardware. The experimental program uses control circuits with matched depth and gate count and has been executed on three independently calibrated IBM Heron r2 processors (ibm_kingston, ibm_fez, and ibm_marrakesh). The results documented to date show a reproducible association between initial correlation structure and measured persistence under the experimental conditions studied. Comparative analyses further suggest that the entanglement component may provide more specific information about the observed protection than total mutual information, an issue that remains open to validation using intermediate classification states and independent replication. The scalability program explores a modular architecture based on independent GHZ-4 blocks. This strategy avoids the exponential collapse observed in large monolithic GHZ states and allows module-level persistence of approximately 84% to be maintained in experiments reaching 128 physical qubits, with constant preparation depth. These results correspond to a modular architecture. The P7 experimental protocol formalizes a common methodology for transferring the test to fundamentally different architectures, including trapped-ion, neutral-atom, and photonic reference platforms, with the aim of determining whether the observed associations are reproducible beyond the superconducting processors tested to date. This consolidated edition incorporates the methodological corrections identified during the review of the work, including correction of the factor-of-two error in the calculation of I_Q for pure bipartite states. Historical material and obsolete versions are explicitly preserved to ensure traceability of the analyses and their modifications. The protocol also distinguishes between experimental results, phenomenological hypotheses, physical interpretations, and proposals for future validation. The associated circuits, raw data, experimental metadata, and analysis code are publicly archived to enable reproduction and independent evaluation of the results.
