Family, Faith Community, and Resilience in the Age of Post-Truth and Artificial Intelligence: Psychosocial Dimensions of Healthy Human Development

Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: Aim. This paper examines the role of family and faith community in strengthening psychosocial resilience, particularly among young people whose development is negatively affected by the growing use of artificial intelligence (AI) and the prevailing context of post-truth culture. Concept. We proceed from the premise that the quality of family life and family resilience constitute key factors in the healthy intellectual, emotional, and psychosocial development of the individual. We reflect on the contemporary rise of mental health problems among young people within the post-truth context of a media-saturated environment, which emerges as a source of anxiety, weakened critical thinking, and the gradual erosion of emotional (EQ) and social intelligence (SQ). These parameters are projected in a dialectical relationship with the healthy faith community, which holds the potential to create a space of authentic intergenerational belonging, shared values, and social support. Results and Conclusion. The critical analysis develops an original argumentative framework, according to which high-quality family life, family resilience, and participation in healthy faith communities represent a significant dialectic of prevention against the psychosocial risks that current trends in AI use — within the context of post-truth culture — pose to the younger generation: rising anxiety, weakened psychosocial resilience, a limited capacity for deep relational bonds, and a diminished sense of meaning in life. Originality. The paper offers an original interdisciplinary synthesis at the intersection of family psychology, resilience studies, and the spirituality of the contemporary younger generation, providing an applicable model for counselling, pastoral, and educational practice.
