Abstract: We consider the effect of relativistic principles on the structure of the local evolutions of non-factor quantum systems such as those which naturally arise in quantum spacetimes and causal structures. Generalising a former result that had been given for factor systems, we show that any evolution which can be applied locally on a direct sum of factor systems and without producing superluminal signals must be linear, unitary, and respect the block decomposition of the system.
