E8‑Phi‑Modulated Topological Photonic Crystal for Loss‑Immune Light Transport — E8 Intelligence Research
Year: 2026
Type: preprint
Abstract: By mapping the 240 E8 root vectors onto a synthetic‑dimension lattice and projecting it into a two‑dimensional photonic crystal, the crystal's unit cell inherits the E8 connectivity. Driving the lattice with a 132 Hz modulation and applying a golden‑ratio (φ) phase shift between neighboring synthetic dimensions opens a hierarchy of φ‑scaled bandgaps that support topologically protected edge states for photons. These edge modes propagate without back‑scattering even in the presence of disorder, extending the phononic topological quantum memory concept to the electromagnetic domain. The scheme offers a route to low‑loss, reconfigurable photonic circuits and a new platform for exploring higher‑dimensional gauge theories in tabletop experiments.
