Morph: a browser preservation of Perseus Morpheus
Year: 2026
Type: software
Abstract: Engineering edition 0.0.1 brings Gregory Crane and the Perseus Digital Library's original Morpheus C morphology engine into a self-contained browser application with verified offline storage. Ancient Greek and Latin analysis runs locally through WebAssembly. Input conversion and presentation preserve a separate raw byte execution record. The retained PerseusDL source revision is b1b33c56ef2338fe0dcd1893628ed638f00c0986. Complete source, data-build tools, recorded portability adaptations, compiled engine and ready-to-host static assets are included. Latin uses the four verb inputs retained by that source; missing vbs.mpi is not substituted. This engineering reconstruction does not claim full 1.0 preservation qualification or identity with the currently deployed Tufts service. Full dictionaries and scholarly correction are deferred. This is an independent Classical Cat Digital Humanities Lab adaptation, without implied Tufts/Perseus endorsement. CC BY-SA 3.0 United States governs the inherited core/data and adaptation; third-party runtime/font terms are retained separately.
