Abstract: The aim of this article is to show how psychoanalysis arrived in China, both theoreticallyand institutionally, and how elements of China have influenced the theoretical elaboration ofthe “late Lacan’s” teachings. To this end, we trace key events, examine decisive psychoanalyticconcepts appropriated from Chinese culture, and demonstrate how, in a reciprocal movement,China, specifically its writing, literature, and philosophy, ultimately leaves its mark on Lacanianpsychoanalysis.
