Online IVF price posting by U.S. fertility clinics: a census of 457 CDC-reporting clinic locations, September 2026

Abstract: Background. Patients who pay for IVF themselves need prices to compare clinics before booking a consultation. A review of Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART) member clinic websites in July 2019 found IVF-related prices on 19.9% of them. Methods. We checked the website of every clinic location in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) 2022 Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) clinic data (457 locations in 49 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico) for a self-pay IVF price between 13 and 28 September 2026. An amount was recorded only when the clinic published it on its own web page for that location. We report the share of locations, and of websites, that posted a price, with Wilson 95% confidence intervals (CI), overall and by network membership, SART membership, clinic size and state IVF insurance mandate. Results. Of 452 locations checked, 159 posted a self-pay IVF price (35.2%; 95% CI 30.9 to 39.7), 283 deferred pricing to a call or consultation and 10 could not be settled. Counted by website, 126 of 360 posted a price (35.0%; 30.3 to 40.1), including 98 of 281 websites of SART member clinics (34.9%; 29.5 to 40.6). Posting rose with clinic size, from 27.0% of locations in the smallest quartile of 2022 ART cycles to 46.9% in the largest, was more common among locations of multi-location networks (51.9% vs 32.9%) and did not differ between states with and without an IVF coverage mandate (36.6% vs 34.0%). On re-reading, 129 of the 134 source pages that could be retrieved automatically still showed the recorded amount. Conclusions. About one in three U.S. fertility clinic websites now posts a self-pay IVF price, compared with about one in five in 2019, but most clinics still disclose prices only on request.
