Histopathologically Proven Tarsal Lacrimal Gland Choristoma

Year: 2026
Type: article
Study design: Case Report
Abstract: Ectopic lacrimal glands, also known as lacrimal gland choristomas, are seen in various areas of the eyes and are characterized by their placement outside of their typical anatomical position. While tarsal lacrimal gland choristomas are uncommon, the bulbar conjunctiva and limbal area have been identified as the most frequent sites. Herein, we report a 32-year-old female with a mass on the left lower eyelid conjunctiva that is histopathologically proved to be a lacrimal gland choristoma.
