Securing Future Optical Networks by Integrating Quantum Communications and Interferometric Fiber Sensing

Abstract: We show that integrating quantum communications with interferometric sensing can enable self-protected optical infrastructures. Through modeling and experiments, we demonstrate that future optical networks can detect physical tampering while supporting practical quantum-secure key distribution over shared fiber systems.
