Abstract: This research article aimed to: (1) explore the characteristics of studies related to the psychological mechanisms of yoga and qigong in enhancing psychological flexibility among stroke patients; and (2) analyze key psychological mechanisms influenced by these practices. This study used a qualitative narrative review approach, synthesizing 40 research articles published between 2014 and 2024. The content was categorized by publication year, research type, study design, and mechanisms affecting psychological flexibility. The results revealed that all studies were conducted abroad (100%), with the highest number of publications in 2023 and 2024 (22.5%). Most articles were experimental studies (97.5%). Four major mechanisms were identified: (1) self-esteem, (2) self-efficacy, (3) emotional regulation, and (4) body awareness and breathing. These mechanisms particularly benefited elderly patients and those with mobility limitations by fostering inner stability and supporting long-term mental recovery. The study recommends promoting further research in the Thai context, focusing on integrating yoga and qigong with cultural appropriateness and designing interventions tailored to the physical and psychological needs of stroke patients, in order to achieve sustainable rehabilitation outcomes.
