Curso De Qualificação Qualiguia: Utilização Dos Protocolos De Uso Do Guia Alimentar Brasileiro
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: Introduction: The growth in the consumption of ultra-processed foods has been widely associated with negative health outcomes. Developed in Brazil, the term ultra-processed foods and the Nova food classification system have become key references for understanding the contemporary nutritional transition. In the country, it is estimated that 28.6% of the increase in obesity prevalence between 2002 and 2009 is associated with the increased consumption of these products. In this context, the Dietary Guidelines for the Brazilian Population incorporated the degree of food processing into their recommendations, synthesised in the “golden rule” of prioritising fresh or minimally processed foods. As part of its implementation agenda within the Brazilian Unified Health System, the Ministry of Health published the Protocols based on the Dietary Guidelines for individual dietary advice across the life course. Objective: To develop the QualiGuia course with the aim of qualifying health professionals to use these protocols. Methods: Structured as a 30-hour massive open online course (MOOC), QualiGuia was developed in four phases — formulation, construction, content validation and development —within the Programme for Supporting Institutional Development of the Brazilian Unified Health System (PROADI-SUS). Results: Evaluations showed high adherence and a significant increase in professionals' perceived self-efficacy to provide dietary advice based on the Dietary Guidelines. Incorporated into the Open University of the Unified Health System (UNA-SUS), the course has wide national reach. Conclusion: QualiGuia constitutes an innovative and relevant strategy for strengthening nutritional care in Primary Health Care.
