Abstract: ABSTRACTRenal Artery Stenosis (RAS) accounts for up to 5% of the causes of hypertension having as main causes atherosclerosis and fibromuscular dysplasia. As a result, the patient may develop Renovascular Hypertension (HR), which is a potentially curable cause of hypertension. This review addresses the clinical aspects of the EAR and hence the HR. Currently there has been increasing interest in identifying causes preventable or reversible hypertension and renal dysfunction, being the reversal of the obstruction of the renal arteries a promising therapeutic strategy. Early diagnosis allows appropriate therapeutic approach and better response to treatment.
