Abstract: The article analyses the investor/State disputes on energy sector of Argentina and discusses the political conflicts setting by the norms of the international investment regime, specifically that touch sovereignty and policy making of host states issues. Based on Argentinean case, the paper argues that changes on approach of investment regulation on domestic policies and the scenario of regional politics confronted the principles that have oriented the liberal reforms on sector in the beginning of century. Thisanalysis points out how contentious issues about the restricting rules to the formulation of public policies allowed the reestablishment of the notion of public interest and sovereignty over energy resources and established a new schedule for the theme of foreign investment that brought out conflicts in the face of regulatory principles of the international investment regime adopted before such as the investor/State Clause.
