Abstract: BACKGROUND: Alterations in pain perception have been observed in people diagnosed with schizophrenia. Some research suggests the existence of a possible hyposensitivity, while others describe a hypersensitivity to pain in people with schizophrenia. In summary, the studies present contradictory results.
