Abstract: Forgery is a crime of great importance in legal proceedings, as it is linked to the legal status of individuals. This importance and relevance stems from the fact that its subject or location is always documents that constitute probative evidence of the existence of legal entities and persons. Previously, these documents focused on a material perspective based on documents with a tangible physical appearance. This perspective requires the presence of paper and liquid ink as components of these documents, along with the necessity of attributing these documents to the concerned person through the means previously specified by law. As a result of recent developments in technical fields, which have in turn affected documents, changes have occurred in the constituent elements of these documents. This has imposed a situation that naturally requires a pause to clarify the impact of these developments on documents and their effect on reformulating the concept of the crime of forgery, or at least defining the scope of this crime in accordance with these changes.
