Spatial Patterns and Dynamics of Agricultural Land Use: A Geographical Analysis
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: This study examines the spatial patterns and dynamics of agricultural land use through a geographical perspective, emphasizing the relationship between land use, land cover, and socio-economic as well as environmental factors. The research integrates spatial analysis methods, remote sensing, and GIS techniques to understand the distribution, transformation, and management of agricultural landscapes across different regions. It highlights how factors such as market forces, technological advancements, policy interventions, and environmental constraints influence land-use decisions and transitions. The study also explores agricultural typologies, landscape ecosystems, and regional variations in land-use practices, supported by global case studies including Europe, North America, East Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and South America. Furthermore, it discusses the impacts of agricultural land use on biodiversity, soil, water resources, and climate systems, emphasizing sustainability challenges and ecosystem services. The findings underline the importance of integrated land-use planning, governance reforms, and adaptive strategies to promote sustainable agricultural development in the face of climate change and increasing global demand for food.
