Abstract: Introduction: This study evaluates the association between body composition, macronutrient intake, and cognitive performance in basketball and volleyball practitioners, highlighting the importance of physical and mental health. Objective: The primary objective is to investigate the relationship between the body composition of physical activity practitioners, focusing on lean mass and body fat, and to examine how macronutrient intake relates to improvements in cognitive performance. Materials and Methods: The research was conducted with 16 male basketball and volleyball practitioners aged 18 to 35 years from the Physical Education School Clinic and Academy (CAEF) at UNICENTRO. Data were obtained through structured questionnaires and anthropometric assessments. Dietary intake was recorded over three days. Results: Participants had an average body fat percentage of 13.8%. A positive correlation was found between carbohydrate consumption and reaction time in both congruent (r = 0.92; p<0.05) and incongruent (r = 0.84; p<0.05) tasks, indicating that individuals with higher carbohydrate intake exhibited longer reaction times. Protein showed a β of -42.46 (95% CI: -91.12 - 6.18), indicating a non-significant association. Conclusion: The results indicate that the correct amount of carbohydrates is important for cognitive performance; however, the connection between body composition and cognitive functions was not sufficiently clear in this study. Further research is needed to better clarify the association between body composition variables and cognitive functions in larger and more heterogeneous populations.
