Abstract: Today, oxidative stress is considered to be one of the main mechanisms associated with the onset and progression of neurodegenerative and some other neurological diseases. This is supported by a number of empirical evidence obtained post-mortem, brain damage and specifically SN in patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD). The aim: to investigate the importance of non-enzymatic reactions, which form the basis of oxidative stress progression and related processes, for the etiology and pathogenesis of PD. Materials and methods. To solve this problem, we searched and analysed full-text articles in the PubMed database. Results. It was found that the progression of chronic oxidative, nitrosative, carbonyl and lipoperoxidative stresses contributes to the neurodegeneration of PD.
