Abstract: In the Republic of Panama, the population of adults over 60 years of age is increasing. This life cycle process leads to changes that unfavorably impact the emotions and feelings of this population. Therefore, it is important to have therapeutic alternatives that are accessible, effective and valid to address this challenge, not only individual but also social. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is one of the models proposed to address the symptoms of mood disorders, such as depression and anxiety in older adults. This article aims to provide information on the effectiveness of different approaches to this therapeutic alternative and the results obtained in older adults. It is concluded that acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) have significant results in improving the quality of life of older adults with depression and anxiety. However, there are not enough scientific publications to support the efficacy in mood disorders
