Abstract: The objectives of this study were to 1) investigate anxiety levels in English vocabulary learning of students at Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University under the Royal Patronage and 2) explore the factors affecting anxiety levels in English vocabulary learning of the students. This is a quantitative research study. The instrument for obtaining the data was a questionnaire. Its validity determined by the index of item objective congruence (IOC) was more than 0.6 and its reliabilities were between 0.90-0.94. The sample for this study consisted of 73 first-year undergraduate students who enrolled in the VLE101 course in the first semester of the 2022 academic year at Valaya Alongkorn Rajabhat University under the Royal Patronage. The sampling method was convenience sampling. The statistics used for data analysis included mean, standard deviation, and Pearson Correlation Coefficient.The findings of the study revealed that the students experienced anxiety in English vocabulary learning at a moderate level ( = 3.28, S.D. = 0.87). The results also showed that overall, every factor investigated in this study which included fear of negative evaluation, test anxiety or fear of failing exams, practice of instructors causing anxiety, and learners’ negative attitudes was positively correlated with the anxiety levels at a significance level of .01 (Pearson Correlation = 0.734). In addition, the highest correlation was found between the test anxiety or fear of failing exams and the anxiety levels at a significance level of .01 (Pearson Correlation = 0.719).
