Abstract: The article deals with the results of a case study on the consumption of literature in adolescents in Cayo Hueso, in Havana. It explores the particularities that the consumption of literature of a group of adolescents has, and analyzes the role played by the family and the school, as mediators agents of great influence. The article reveals among its results that the adolescents studied identify reading with school obligations. At the end, there is a greater knowledge about the interests, preferences and literary motivations of the subjects studied and their linkwith the new information technologies.
