Abstract: Se revisan las características y ventajas de las revisiones sistemáticas, haciendo énfasis en su utilidad y en los pasos para su preparación y actualización. La formulación del problema, los aspectos claves en la formulación de la pregunta, las estrategias de búsqueda para la localización y selección de los estudios primarios, la evaluación crítica de los estudios, cuidando su validez a través del control de los posibles sesgos; análisis y presentación de resultados y finalmente se presentan las guías para la lectura critica de las RS y la utilización de sus resultados. ABSTRACT The characteristics and advantages of systematic review are reviewed, we are doing emphasis in their utility and the steps for their preparation and update. The formulation of the problem, key aspects in the formulation of the question, the search strategy for location and selection of primary studies, the critical evaluation of studies, taking care of its validity through the control of possible bias; analyses and presentation of results and finally appear guides for the critical appraisal of RS and the use of their results.
