Wireless Implantable Devices for Chronic Disease Monitoring: Innovations, Challenges, and Future Prospects
Year: 2022
Type: article
Abstract: Wireless implantable devices (WIDs) have revolutionized chronic disease monitoring by enabling real-time, continuous health tracking and early intervention. These miniaturized, biocompatible devices provide critical health metrics for cardiovascular, diabetic, and neurological patients through wireless communication and remote diagnostics. This paper explores the architecture, applications, and integration challenges of WIDs in the Pakistani healthcare context. We review advancements in sensor technologies, power harvesting methods, and data analytics that enhance WID performance. Moreover, ethical concerns, affordability, and policy frameworks are examined to understand the roadmap for widespread implementation. The paper concludes by outlining future trends, including AI integration and personalized medicine through implantable biosensors.
