Abstract: This paper examines the political dimensions of the African, Caribbean and Pacific–European Union (ACP-EU) agreement as they relate to good governance, democracy, the rule of law, and human rights. The motivation for the study derives from the persistent governance challenges that ACP countries face, most notably widespread poverty, weak adherence to the rule of law, and the pervasiveness of human rights violations. The study relies principally on secondary data sources and is therefore qualitative in orientation, employing a thematic content analysis approach. The theory intergovernmentalism serves as its guiding theoretical framework. The findings indicate that the ACP-EU agreement is fundamentally oriented toward engendering development across African, Caribbean, and Pacific countries, and has meaningfully reinforced the within the ACP bloc's. democracy sustainability. The study concludes that agreement has achieved appreciable success in sustaining democratic practice, supporting human rights and fostering development across ACP countries. The continuation of the agreement is a necessity for ACP countries, and the agreement should be renewed to continue fostering development and sustaining support for democracy within the ACP countries. This would, in turn, strengthen the rule of law, reduce human rights abuses, and advance good governance across the ACP countries.
