Epistemological shifts and repositionings of the Social and Human Sciences in the field of Collective Health

Abstract: Inspired by the title of this article, which was proposed for a presentation at the Saúde e Sociedade Journal 30+ Symposium in August 2025, this essay is organized into four sections: a brief introduction outlining the issues to be discussed and the contemporary context; a short synthesis of the scientific output published by the journal Saúde e Sociedade over the past 30 years, contextualized against the trajectory of the Social and Human Sciences in Health (SHSH) and Collective Health; critical questions regarding the Social and Human Sciences in Health within the broader Collective Health field, emphasizing health as an object of study (specifically focusing on interdisciplinarity, state-society relations, and the contemporary subject); and very brief concluding remarks.
