Particle-to-particle variations in zero-phonon line spectra of 750 nm fluorescent submicron diamonds and their reduction by ensemble averaging
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: Particle-to-particle variations in the zero-phonon line (ZPL) spectra and ZPL centroid wavelengths were investigated for 60 fluorescent diamond particles with an average diameter of 750 nm containing negatively charged nitrogen-vacancy centers. The reduction in the uncertainties of the ensemble-averaged quantities was quantitatively described using finite-population sampling. A complementary analysis revealed no significant correlation between the ZPL centroid wavelength and particle morphology, characterized by the aspect ratio and thickness.
