BIOSHIELD - Biotech Student's Guide to Future Projections

Year: 2026
Type: book
Abstract: BIOSHIELD project, funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ Programme, brings together academic institutions and an ed-tech organisation from across Europe and Türkiye to bridge the gap between traditional biotechnology education and real-world climate solutions. One of BIOSHIELD’s core achievements has been the development of a Higher Education course curriculum specifically designed for students to understand and practice climate-centric biotechnological innovation. This curriculum includes modules which directly address sustainability and resilience in crop systems, a clear example of systemic learning integrated with real challenges. This guidebook has been prepared as a complementary learning resource for biotech students. Throughout this guidebook, you will find case studies based on current research and industry practice, innovation scenarios designed to stretch your creative thinking, and reflective exercises that sharpen critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities. Each chapter is structured to support both individual study and collaborative learning, acknowledging that biodiversity, climate policy, and sustainable biotechnology flourish only through diverse perspectives and interdisciplinary teamwork.
