Des enjeux méthodologiques majeurs de l'évaluation multicritère dans les systèmes agri-alimentaires
Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: Multi-criteria decision analysis aims to explicitly include multiple criteria into the decision-making process. For agricultural and agri-food systems, which are at the center of multiple challenges— economic, environmental, public health, and more— these methods are essential for defining pathways toward sustainable and coordinated development. Combining objective measurements, mathematical calculations, and the consideration of opinions, these methods face numerous challenges in their design and application. In this article, based on the roundtable discussion at the Carrefours de l'Innovation of September 25th 2025, we have chosen to address multi-criteria assessments of agri-food systems from five perspectives: use, aggregation, changes of scale, environmental labeling, and an initiative of network to bring together research. These five perspectives provide an overview of the current issues and suggest avenues for the design and application of multi-criteria assessments in agricultural and agri-food systems.
