Verkehrs- und Mobilitätsgerechtigkeit als theoretisch-konzeptionelle Grundlage für die Analyse von Erreichbarkeiten

Abstract: „Accessibility“ is often reduced within classical transport research to its indicator function for measuring spatial relations and patterns. This creates the impression that the focus lies on measurements of socially and spatially differentiated access to specific opportunities within a given geographic context. In particular, German-speaking transport research could benefit from a theoretically and conceptually grounded understanding of justice. This article aims to establish a theoretical-conceptual foundation from the perspective of justice-oriented transport research. Accessibility planning can benefit from the considerations developed here, which draw on international research and concepts such as Transport Justice and Mobility Justice. These concepts also support the planning principle of public services, which is critical for rural areas. This results in the legitimization of transport and mobility strategies aimed to improve accessibility beyond private car use and beyond the debates on economic feasibility.
