Association of Body Mass Index and Family History With Self-Reported Doctor-Diagnosed Polycystic Ovary Syndrome A Cross-Sectional Study
Year: 2026
Type: article
Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: This independent cross-sectional research study examines the association between body mass index (BMI), family history of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and self-reported doctor-diagnosed PCOS in an online survey sample. The study includes a data-quality assessment and statistical analyses of diagnosis status, family history, and BMI. It also discusses limitations arising from self-reported information, ambiguous responses, online recruitment, and data-formatting problems. The findings are exploratory and apply to the analysed sample; they should not be interpreted as estimates for the general population or as evidence of causation.
