Year: 2026
Type: article
Abstract: The article examines the professional balance between interpreting a work of art and communicating it to a mass audience in an accessible and reliable manner. Drawing on dissertation research and fundamental studies, it distinguishes art-historical interpretation, art criticism and journalistic mediation, with particular attention to the journalist’s responsibility not to replace explanation with an ungrounded verdict. The empirical material consists of ten Uzbek media texts on visual art and exhibitions published in 2025 and analyzed through contextual, discourse and comparative methods.
