Year: 2026
Type: dataset
Abstract: This dataset contains digitized historical documents, court records, and trial transcripts related to the legal proceedings against former Bolivian Minister of Interior, Colonel Luis Arce Gómez, held at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida (Miami) between 1989 and 1991. The original physical records are preserved at the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) in Atlanta, Georgia. These judicial sources document the structured relations between Bolivian military officials, international narcotics networks, and the Santa Ana cartel during the late 1970s and early 1980s. This dataset has been curated, digitized (300–400 DPI with Optical Character Recognition - OCR), and made available as part of the research project NARCOPOLITICS: Drug Trafficking and Politics: Structuring and Adaptation of Organized Crime in Bolivia's Last Authoritarian Decade (1971-1982), funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (Grant Agreement No. 101204304). Contents of the Dataset: Scanned judicial transcripts, indictments, and witness testimonies. Full text searchable PDF files (OCR processed). A accompanying README.txt file providing detailed archival provenance, file inventories, and technical specs.
