How the Book of Soyga Builds Its Tables and Reads Names from Them (preprint, code and data (v1.3: adds the 36-table ordering, mirror-pair independence, seeks-map cycles, hidden-word search, value-origin battery))

Abstract: Preprint (Author's Original Manuscript, 14 October 2026; submitted for peer review, not yet peer reviewed), with the code, outputs and working notes, for the article "How the Book of Soyga Builds Its Tables and Reads Names from Them" (2026). The thirty-six letter tables of the Book of Soyga (Aldaraia; British Library, Sloane MS 8; Bodleian Library, MS Bodley 908) were reconstructed by Jim Reeds (1998, 2006) with a step function f that he knew only empirically. Using Jane Kupin's edition (2014), the scripts test where the book itself states how its tables are made and how names are read out of its squares. Earlier work credited in the manuscript: Louv (2026, doi:10.5281/zenodo.20696278) for the identification of f with the values of Section 18; Ivezaj (2026, doi:10.5281/zenodo.20225605) for the code words and the MOYSES table. Letter values: 112 of the 119 numbers the book attaches to letters or words agree with f(L) + 1 (mod 23); the seven exceptions are listed. Step table (Book 17, Sloane 8, f. 100v): the letter each letter "seeks" is L + f(L) for 22 of 23 letters. Code words from three divine names (Section 28 and a Bodley marginal note): 113-131 of 138 letters, 13-19 of 23 words, against at most 65 letters for 100,000 random pairings. Interior rule: only Reeds's rule fits his transcription of a manuscript table cell by cell (550 of 560 cells); the failures trace to four wrong letters. Preface spirit names: the spirits of the first table's preface bear three-letter groups of that table (a rule the author predicted in advance and then tested — this corrects the v1.2 phrase "found by inspection"), and those that undo them the same groups rotated (78 of 98 name forms; at most 11 for any other table). The square of Aries (Section 3): a 14 x 14 square from Ihesum, Emanuel, Deus and their reversals; its star names are found within one letter at 17/19, 12/18 and 23/39 (random names at most 6, 5 and 14). Lists 1-2 follow a start-and-step rule; the first 20 names of list 3 are the upper half read along the down-right diagonals from the corner that "sounds deum", and the rest are read along the other diagonal direction (14 of 20 against 3; 9 of 19 against 4), twelve of them outwards from the main diagonal on consecutive lines. Section 16 and 26.6: the "most holy name … the matter of all other names" is the alphabet, each letter given a name by a rule (consonants from Z to A three to a row, vowels in the reversed cycle u o i e a; four names per row); 18 of 24 names as printed, 22 with the second copy or the minims, 64 of 72 letters. The four verse lists of spirits (Sections 8, 13, 14, 15) and the Section 17 incantation are not read from any table. Negative and open results are included: no "19 code" or Metonic constants; the order of the names below the diagonal and three of them, the name of r, the daily star counts and spans of life of Sections 3-4, and the "alphabet" of Zadzaczadlin remain unresolved. All readings rest on Kupin's transcription; the manuscripts were not inspected. Python 3, standard library only. See README.md and RESULTS.md in the archive. NEW IN VERSION 1.3 (this supplement): the manuscript's own ordering of the 36 tables (1-12 zodiac first face, 13-24 the same signs second face, 25-31 the seven planets, 32-35 the four elements, 36 Magistri) — this explains why the mirror pairs exist (nisram/marsin, …, aricaa/aacira; 12/12 exact reverses) and why tables 25-36 have no mirror; the mirror tables are cell-wise independent (identity 63/1296, transpose 56/1296, 180° 57/1296, near chance). Seeks-map dynamics: s(L)=L+f(L) mod 23 is not a permutation — attractors o↔y (2-cycle) and d→i→z→b (4-cycle); cycle letters over-represented in the 46,656-cell corpus. Hidden-word search over all tables: the book's own vocabulary (adam 9, moyses 6, nisram 12 each) with no control-word hits. Exhaustive value-origin battery: Latin order, Fibonacci/Lucas, linear/quadratic/cubic/exponential mod 23 (all <8/23) — the 12 values are a stated axiom, not a derived quantity. Life-span triples: 10 of 44 are equal-step progressions; four of the six steps (3, 6, 9, 15) are Section 18 class values. Includes a referee-style evaluation with corrections (preface rule was predicted in advance — correcting v1.2's "found by inspection"), an originality table (Reeds/Louv/Ivezaj/Teker), and 21 new scripts with captured outputs.
